A local firefighter showed off his invention Thursday, and it's something that's captured the attention of fire departments across the country.
Springfield Fire Captain Robert Duffy demonstrated his "quick step anchor."
He says three years ago, he thought of the idea in the middle of the night.
This quick step anchor will give firefighters stable footing on a roof when they fight house fires.
Duffy says his new invention will "definitely increase the comfortability and speed up operations. Not only that, if they slip and fall it's going to stop them from falling off of the roof."
"I don't know what your life is worth, but my wife and kids are going to say its invaluable," Duffy said.
Duffy also says his product will be made in Springfield and two major distributors will help sell it across the country.
